What is Freedom?

November 25, 2008

I’ve listened to and read an enormous amount of news and blogs by those that want the same thing as I do. They want peace. They want much smaller and less intrusive governments. They want their concerns heard. In short, they want a voice.

I listen. I read. I post. I pray. And then I wake up to the Reality that Is.

If I told you that I know what the problem really is. If I told you that I know how to solve that problem. Would you believe me?

I will attempt, in this short space, to examine, analyze and report on our major problem.

Our first problem is that regardless of what ideas I have seen, read or heard, they all neglect to see the ‘real’ problem.

It is not the issue that is burning a hole in your brain. It is not a single issue that will make the world a better and safer place to live in.

It is the ideology that we choose to internalize. An ideology can determine our futures. Got one?

The first thing that I notice when I examine the ‘world as one’, is that there is not a ‘world as one’. It is divided by big governments, who separate themselves from those that either bring fear to them, or that oppose their ideas. And as my mother said “Like people find like kinds”. They group together and express their hatred/dislike for the others. Big governments build big armies, navies and great stocks of weapons and weapons delivery systems.

We just left the bloodiest century in recorded history. Want more? It certainly seems that we are continuing to move in the same direction. More on that idea in another posting.

Our economies are falling apart as we all ignore the fact that Economics is the Science of Scarcity. We can’t continue to spend more than we make.

More on that on another posting.

One thing is for certain. If we continue to think as we always have, we will continue to get what we always have. And so history repeats itself. The biggest problem with that is that with each repitition the wars get bigger and badder, the economies get worse and worse and the living conditions, whether we measure it by Greenpeace or by scientific or economic standards keep showing its ugly head, and as time goes by, it gets worse and worse.

So Ideology is the core of our problems. So how do we go about making a significant change that will prevent us from repeating the same mistakes?

Let’s try examining what the ‘root of the problem’ is. Some people say that it is money, greed and the support of it by governments. Sounds right to me. But how can we change that?

I am not such an easy guy to please with platitudes. While the above response provides a plausible answer, it does not provide an answer.

Here, in short, is my answer. It is not ‘Money” that is the root of all evil. It is ‘Force’. Our governments support the use of force by endorsing its use in their armies, and their police forces, and in their legislation which is backed up by fines, punishments and aggression.

Remember the draft? It may not be here now, but how can you guarantee that it will not return? How strong is our support of the very Constitution that protects us? Is our economy in turmoil because our businesses and our CEO’s are stupid or too greedy? Perhaps we can all agree that government plays a major role in its hardships.

Ready for the final answer?

Force is the root of all evil. It cannot be money, as money is a commodity that is nuetral and can be ‘used’ for good or evil. Therefore, it is force that is the root of all evil.

Make using force as the only crime in this world and you will stamp out crime, the growth of evil big governments, and return of self respect to mankind. Let us provide the human being with the means by which the Right to Life will be restored. Freedom therefore, is respect for the life upon this earth. It requires the return to Natural Law, or that which is natural to mankind.

You must back up our Right to Life with laws that support our Right to Life.

Not an elastic, changing thing that our Politicians have made of our guarantte to our Right to Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness provided by our Constitution. But a true guarantee of our Right to Life, earned by our fathers and forefathers through their blood, sweat and tears.

Red, White, and Blue

November 20, 2008

I ask that we all take a moment to understand the difference between a Democracy and a Republic. First of all, we are a Republic. Unfortunately for us, our Politicians who possess Brains of Convenience (BOCs) will do anything to persuade us otherwise. They learned a long time ago that if they can convince us to vote upon issues that they are pushing on us, that the Democratic system will overide the Republican System that we are based on. Our Supreme Court Justices will do nothing. They have resigned themselves to be loyal to those who placed them in office. Strict Constitutionalist no longer exist. FDR saw to it through his court packing scheme that Constitutionalist were weaned out of existence.
I talk about the importance of voting in my book “Let Liberty Shine” (available at Amazon.com). The most important thing that I teach in that regard, is that we should never vote for the ‘Lesser of 2-evils’. Our 2-Party System is a complete failure. They have both sailed to the left side of the pond. they are 2 peas of the same pod. They have abandoned their responsibilities to us and through their BOCs will promise us anything so that they can get elected.
The sad part of all of this is that our educational system saddles up to this horse and pony show and creates this misperception of fairness as a good thing. Too many of our youth, dumb and dumber, are raving mad over Senator Obama. I ask them every chance I get, what it is that they like most about Senator Obama’s plan for our future. You can bet that not one of them said I like the idea that he is going to raise taxes. None of them said that he represented the same old crap that has led this great nation from one of great power to one of great debt. Not many of them understood the message of Congressman Ron Paul. Our economy will be destroyed with this upcoming Presidency. They will continue to bail-out and spend, spend, spend. They will drive our money down the money pit. We have been in chronic inflation, especially since 1971 when Richard Nixon took us completely off the Gold Standard. Our Fractional Reserve Banks (also unlawful) continue to endanger our money by loaning out ten times more than they keep on hand. Our Federal Reserve will continue to print paper money on demand. And when there is too much money chasing too little capital, hyperinflation becomes a possibility. Did you ever wonder why we have had Stagflation over the last few recessions? It is because of all that paper money our FEDRES prints.
Warning: We are in great danger. It is too late to stop the damage that our Congress and Senate are doing to our economy.
See: letlibertyshine.blogspot.com for other dangers that lie ahead. Better–read my book and Let Liberty Shine!.

I Walk the Walk

November 19, 2008

It has been a long and winding road. My life sometimes spun out of control. My direction filled with chaos. There is one thing that I have learned for a certainty, and that is that we need to be able to express our ideas in a way that will have an impact upon those who are blinded by the lemmings of the day.

For those who worship at the liberal alter of the false coming of the false savior, I say to them behold. Truth lies in places least expected. No false promises here. Those of you who have lost sight of who we are have also lost sight of that which is natural to man.

There is an order in the universe. A discordant sound that rings in my ears, brings harmony to my being. From chaos comes within me a chime the bellows sweet rhythm within me. Chaos is my friend. Without it I could not walk, head tall, tongue sharpened by its acid reeking its stench inside my throat. Those that walk in confidence, worshiping at the liberal alter of the false coming of the false savior.

They are the ones who have lost their Right to Life. Unable to conceive that which is natual to man, they sip of the stench their idols heave upon the alter of the false coming of the false savior.

It is time that those who cherish that gift which most have lost, becoming lemmings of those who lie, speak of it unabashedly–we have a gift–and that gift is life–our blood–our bodies–our brains–our ability to choose–our Right to Life.

And since it is our Right to Choose, we must out of respect for our selves, choose to maintain that Right to Life. To fight for that which is granted at birth. To cherish it. To fight for it. To maintain it. There is a Collective Consciousness. Listen carefully and you will hear it. And like a pebble in a pond, the waves will reach your mind. We have a Right to Life.

What Does Change Mean?

November 16, 2008

What does Change Mean?

Soon a new President and a new Administration will be in Office. Will we have good reason to celebrate as so many seem to believe? This bulletin is my way of responding to my friends who believe that Ronald Reagan was a Libertarian and that somehow the Supply-Side Economics employed by him was Capitalism in its purest sense. This will take some time as Economics was not the easiest subject for me to absorb. In fact, my first attempt at understanding economics at Bryant McIntosh Jr. Business College was a disaster. I almost gave it up. But an individual who lives by the ideology: Day by Day, in Every Way, I Must, Get Better and Better—never gives up.

Let me start by clarifying the difference between Reagan, Bush, McCain and Obama. The Republicans and Democrats are two peas of the same pod. It doesn’t matter if you color one red and one blue, they reside on the left side of the pond. Let me explain. Both believe in Supply Side Economics. They both bless the Central Banks. They both bless the Federal Reserve. They both blessed the bail-out of big financial institutions and in the nationalization of AIG. Socialism—A rose by any other name… They both say that they understand that we are a nation deeply in debt, but yet, they both think that they can continue to think as we always have. They both have Brains of Convenience (BOC). They both have agenda’s which will ignore the cause of our Stagnation/Recession. In fact, they both wish to pursue big government spending caused by greater growth in government. Those with a BOC will continue to promise us ‘change’. I must ask you to answer this question before you accept change: Is this change new? Is it fair to the people? Do you understand what it involves? Does it require a use of force to make this change to happen? Will it require new laws? How will they enforce it? Who will pay for it? What about all the people that do not want this change? Will they be forced to pay for it anyways? Is force a good thing? Is force now a part of that change? Does the Constitution support that change? Who gave permission to change the laws without changing the Constitution? Where are our Supreme Court Justices? What happened to our Bill of Rights? Remember when property rights meant something? Isn’t that what our founding fathers proudly proclaimed? Isn’t it true that our Constitution still proclaims that we have the Right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness? It is time that I begin answering some of these questions.

What is our Right to Life? First let me make something perfectly clear. There is a law unto everything. Natural Law, or that which is natural to man, belongs to man. It is a guide that no man-made law can take away. It is a law that states that all things natural to man belong to man. That which is natural to man are those things that complement man. Good health, healthy mind, and freedom are natural to man. Whether you believe that we were created by God or are a natural evolution of time—the gift of life—has a law to it. It is a law commands that we respect the life that we have been given. Enslaving man with big governments is not the way to go about respecting natural law. Big governments use Force to justify itself. Force is the root of all evil. Let me repeat myself for the sake of clarity: “Force is the Root of all Evil”. What you say? “Money is the Root of all Evil”. Really I say! Think about it. Money is a commodity. It can be used for good and for evil purposes. It takes the use of force before that money can be used for evil purposes. Take the invasion of Iran. It took a lot of our money to create the ability to gather such power and transfer it upon the people residing there. Where did that money come from and how did our government obtain it?

Force is the Devil’s Breath!

Evil Resides in It

Suffering Always Follows It

Death a Breath Away!

Force is the root of all evil. Human beings are brutes. There is only one way to tame them. That is through the governments we embrace. The dilemma resides in the fact that people…human beings…are in charge of governments. So how can we have a government tame the animal we call human being? The answer is so easy that it will startle you. We do it by creating a Constitution that man cannot change. And how do we do that you ask? We do it by amending ours with these words:

“No Person, Group, Organization or Country can force any other Person, Group, Organization or Country”. There will be no changes, alterations, or amendments to the above.

If the above sounds familiar to some of you then let me assure you that there would be two reasons for it. One, it is a quote from my book “Let Liberty Shine!”, and Two, it is the Libertarian platform. It is their square A. Since force is evil, we must find a way to prevent its use by governments. Since the beginning of time, people have been enslaved by governments, run by human beings who believed that they were wiser than anyone else. They used government to enforce their laws. Not everyone agreed with their wisdom and other governments sprung up and divided themselves upon the earth. This difference of opinion about how things should be run caused great tension in the world. Soon wars evolved. The circle of time caused the repetition of history and the repetition of wars.

If we continue to think as we always have thought—we will continue to get what we’ve always gotten. Is that what we really want?

Is this new change that Obama talk about release us from this continuing use of force that has always been applied upon us? Or are we continuing to think as we always have? Will he release us from the pain and suffering that many of our arbitrary laws place upon us? Will he finally recognize that man has a Right to Life? Will we continue to war? Will we continue to anger others who reside on this earth and continue to cause more reason for wars? When you can answer those questions, then, you will know whether change is good or evil.

Our Right to Life: Real or Imagined?

October 24, 2008

Hello my friends,

I have been having a wonderful day despite the constant bad news the press, news agencies, and our Presidential Candidates bring us daily.

If you’re as fed up as I am with the direction our 2-Party System has been taking us, then I would recommend that you pay close attention to all that I have to say today. Our Right to Life has been under attack by the very leaders we have voted into office. Both the Congress and the Senate have been playing a game of ratcheting up the power of government on a day to day basis. Our Economy has moved from one of great wealth and power to one of great debt. Our Politicians have a (BOC) mind state. What is BOC you ask? BOC stands for Brains of Convenience. They will say and do anything to get your vote. This time around, they have sold the farm to garner your vote. The only problem is that Joe the Farmer will have to pay more taxes. So will Joe the average businessman/businesswoman. It is because of their Brains of Convenience attitude that we are where we are today. Since it is convenient to promise us more than anyone else, regardless of what the costs, they demonstrate their BOC each election cycle. Obama wants to spend more than what our budgets have been able to afford. He isn’t worried though. He realizes that we have a Central Bank that can print enough money to cover the debt that he will create. I am not an Obama basher; however, I am equal to both parties. So, to be fair and balanced let me tell you about the other half of the equation. Senator John McCain is no conservative either as he also voted for the bailout that will nationalize our Insurance through AIG. That makes our 2-Party System’s leaders Socialist. So when do we change our country’s name to United Socialist of America?

So what does all of this mean for our economy? First and foremost, all this additional spending will require a great deal more introduction of paper (fiat) money into our economy. I’ll explain how that works. And folks, this is not new. Huerta De Soto, author of “Money, Bank Credit, and Economic Cycles”, provides a history as early as our Roman Empire that has dropped gold or precious metal standard to a Fractional Reserve banking system. Every time a nation moves to this system, you will find that the Inflationary period begin to surge. We have been in chronic inflation since we dropped the gold standard. Another important point about us accepting through the electoral process the conditions our 2-Party System candidates bring along as baggage is the fact that nothing really is temporary. Remember Franklin D. Roosevelt. The Federal Reserve was temporary. He’s the guy that pushed, with all his might, to stack the Supreme Court Justices to think his way. Our Republic became a Democracy. We lost sight of the strength and reason for our Constitution. Our Constitution was created to protect our Right to Life. Our Politicians sold that away along with our most envied Constitution. They have made a mockery out of our Liberties and of our Right to Life.

Let’s get back to what all these changes will mean to our future. One of my favorite authors that I left off of my favorites list is Robert Higgs, author of “Against Leviathan”, Depression, War, and Cold War” and the one I am referring to now “Crisis and Leviathan: Critical Episodes in the Growth of American Governments“.

Robert Higgs demonstrated that nothing is really temporary with our big government politicians. During crisis, as we are in today, they establish policies and agencies such as (Snooping on foreigners telephone conversations) and as in our current crisis the ability for our Congress and Senate to bail out big business that please them. What will happen after the crisis? Will the bill still exist? How about the bailout policies? When will it ever end? According to Robert Higgs, after the crisis they will keep a small part of the bill and/or policy as a needed strategy and place a ‘ratchet’ to keep it in place. These ratchets are evident throughout our history. One thing is certain to me. If we continue to think as we always have we will continue to get what we’ve always gotten. My next post will continue this discussion.

Our Right to Life (Part 2)

October 24, 2008

In Part one of my post “Right to Life: Real or Imagined”, I discussed the growth of power and size of our government. I pointed out the power of our Central Banks to print fiat money. This is money that our government guarantees without anything to back it up but a promise to print more money out of thin air when needed. I wrote about our politicians Brain of Convenience (BOC) attitude that allows them to promise us anything (regardless of whether we can afford it or not) to get our votes. I also pointed out that as Robert Higgs stated, our government takes advantage by adding regulations and agencies during crisis that were designed to be temporary, but which they cling to and ratchet up the size of government even after the crisis is over.

We are now deeper in debt than we ever have been and we have two Presidential Candidates that fail to recognize the danger of the direction we have traveled. If we allow our 2-Party System politicians, and especially the leader of our country, to continue to think as they always have, we most certainly follow them to hell. It is clear to me, and I am sure that many of you will agree, that our economy and our world stature is going down the tubes. The likelihood that we will see a major recession and perhaps even a Great Depression grows exponentially each day that passes. Please allow me to qualify that with the following. Economics is the Science of Scarcity. That means that we must recognize that there are limits to everything, including money! Our politicians can’t seem to realize that the more they tax, the less we have to spend. Taking money from us, slows down growth of our economy and of the Research and Development that would otherwise be ongoing if not for the punishing regulations and taxation upon our businesses. If we really want to stimulate the economy we must first vote for those that understand the economy. The only thing our politicians understand (and I wonder sometimes if they even understand anything at all) is politics. Their first concern is how do they continue to get elected. So how do we find such people? The answer is quite easy. Look outside the 2-Party System and you will find the third largest party in the United States is the Libertarian Party. How do I know that they understand the economy. Because they are Laissez-Faire Capitalist. They are anti mixed-economy representatives. They do not believe in politics. They recognize that our government is a Republic–not a Democracy. They recognize that the Supreme Court Justices need to be strict Constitutionalist. Since the Constitution was designed to protect our Rights and our Property, they will not promote big government programs. They will cut big government programs and restore our Right to Life. The very act of trimming our spending, in every corner of government, will cut our taxes drastically, opening up the economy and freeing every citizen to spend their money the way that they want to–not the way that government wants to spend our money. Remember, if we continue to think as we always have, we most certainly will continue to get what we’ve always gotten. Is this what we really want?

In my next post, I will discuss the direction our world is heading and attempt to provide a scenario that could lead us away from war and towards eternal peace.
